Singapore|Land Reclamation

          There are a lot of possible reasons why Singaporeans would want reclaimed land. The main reason is that the islands were getting overpopulated. The population of Singapore used to be 4-5 million people, with only 600 square km of land. That would mean 6.6-8.3 thousand people per square km!

 

          Singapore was very crowded, and the people lived very uncomfortably. Singapore needed more land for its growing population, so the government decided to create artificial reclaimed land.

 

          When reclamation is complete in 2030, Singapore will have 700+ square km of land for the growing population.
