WHAT IS LAND RECLAMATION?
The term "reclamation" has two main definitions.
The first definition is to make a disturbed land suitable for bulding or agriculture. An example of this type of reclamation is when construction workers are cutting trees in an area. This makes the land suitable for building houses. Another example is when a farmer is mowing a field of tall grass. This makes the land suitable for agriculture.
The second definition of reclamation is when artificial land is created on a layer of water (usually an ocean). This defintion of reclamation can be called "land fill". Reclamation is achieved by draining water in an area, adding cement, then filling the rest of it with clay. Large rocks and dirt can be used as well. When this process is complete, artificial land has been created. An example of an artificial land is Singapore.
